What is a Host?
A host is a computer system which provides data to end users who are at a remote location. Typically, the computer which contains the data is called the host, while the computer at which the end user sits is called the remote terminal.
Hosting (also known as web site hosting, web hosting, and webhosting) is the practice of storing and serving website files. There are two types of hosting. Those providing shared servers and those providing dedicated servers. Generally, the majority of smaller companies and individuals use shared server hosting because of the lower cost, and simply because their sites do not require such robust resources for file storage and monthly traffic. However, there are many companies who go one step further with the purchase of their own server.
